Endorsement: Daily Herald backs Moeller over Cuming for Illinois House Dist. 43
Incumbent Democrat Anna Moeller of Elgin has been a steady hand in the 43rd Illinois House District, which includes portions of Elgin, East Dundee and Carpentersville.
She advocates for luring more businesses in the clean energy sector and providing tax relief to the middle class. In contrast to her party, she advocates for charter schools. Elgin is now home to one. We'd like to see her demand more specifics before giving her support, as she as done, for a referendum on the graduated income tax.
But her opponent, Andrew Cuming of Elgin, is a self-described Ron Paul Republican. His views are too extreme for the district. He wrote:
"My philosophy can be summed up as 'Whatever you want to do, so long as you are not harming anyone else without their consent, is your business,' I am pro-marijuana legalization, regulate it like alcohol."
Moeller is endorsed.
