One office at a time

Once again, the will of DuPage County voters is being ignored.

I thought DuPage County voters were very clear in 2012 when we voted by an overwhelming majority that local politicians should only hold one public office at a time. The question asked of the voters that year was whether Illinois law should permit public officials to hold more than one office at a time. The vote was a resounding no by a nearly 10 to 1 margin.

That is why I don't understand why Deanne Mazzochi is currently serving as both a trustee at the College of DuPage and as a state representative. After the vote, DuPage County Board Chairman Cronin was quoted as saying: "The message is loud and clear, we don't want people in two offices out here."

I think Ms. Mazzochi should listen to the chairman.
