Hold congressman accountable on guns
There have been 164 people killed and 265 injured in school shootings since 2011, when Randy Hultgren was sworn in as a congressman.
I believe that U.S. Rep. Hultgren has the ability to help reduce the epidemic of gun violence in our country. However, Rep. Hultgren has never once voted for a sensible gun control bill and has instead consistently voted to make guns more widely available.
I know that some may disagree, but I believe that Rep. Hultgren bears some responsibility for the dead and injured in school shootings that have occurred while he could have done something. I cannot in good conscience vote for a man who remains idle while these killings happen.
This is not a problem outside of the U.S., where sensible gun laws prevail, but sadly our representative will do nothing to reduce gun violence in the U.S. It pains me to know that the school shootings will start again once the summer ends. I will be watching the news and each time I hear of another school shooting, I'll remember that I am represented by Randy Hultgren, a man who refuses to take action on this issue. In the voting booth in November, I will be holding my representative accountable for his inaction.
