Resist attacks on our freedom by voting

In America, power is held by the people. Patriots fought to preserve our country, many dying to protect the freedoms we share. Don't forget the sacrifices they made, nor let us forget the freedoms we want for our children and the generations yet to come.

We can criticize our government without fear of execution, or imprisonment. Russia doesn't offer this freedom. Those who disagree with their leadership are often imprisoned or executed. Freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of assembly are American freedoms. Russians are persecuted for attempting to exercise these same rights.

Censoring of one's citizens begins with denying freedom of speech, and a free press now being misrepresented as fake news. Both of these freedoms keep us informed, preserving our democracy. We can exercise free thinking, and not take the bait of misinformation often spread by social media. We can join a political party that reflects our values, elect chosen candidates for office and exercise the freedom to resist when our country is threatened.

Russia is not our ally. It doesn't matter who advances their agenda, Republican or Democrat, only that their agenda is realized. Standing against their attacks should not be seen through a partisan lens, but one of loyalty, love of country, and protection of our democracy.

Resist attacks from all adversaries. Resist the seductive lure to revel in power absent of accountability. Pick up the sword of freedom and allegiance, combating the threats against our country, foreign or domestic. Dr. King stated during the civil rights movement, "It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment." This is true even now. Contact your elected representatives. Organize resistance. Use your voice before it's silenced and then vote.
