National debt a key concern

A key concern for America that has been overlooked in recent months is the national debt. Any efforts that President Donald Trump can make in getting rid of the corruption in the FBI and intelligence agencies should be well applauded, but how is the national debt going to be dealt with is an exceptionally important question.

The national debt of this nation remains in high acceleration. Is there going to be reform at the Federal Reserve? The answer is probably not. Is federal debt still rising faster than the Gross National Product? Yes, and most significantly higher. Is this likely to change? Again, probably not. The number of true conservatives in Washington don't appear to be making much progress in this realm, and it's seriously questionable if forthcoming elections will change the mindset of Congress in the foreseeable future.

Federal deficits have been prevalent for many years now, but our current debt is staggering and almost unfathomable. Given the difficulty that Trump has had in dealing with Congress concerning immigration reform, it's an even more immense task for Trump to get Congress to shrink government and spending.

Does the government really want to show spending restraint? The answer is negative when one considers the obstructionist and unified Democrats and RINO Republicans. Trump might be able to sell limited government to a supportable populace at one of his big rallies, but selling this to Congress is another story.

Spending needs to be pulled in because America is on a train speeding toward national ruin. Pray for America to slow this train.
