Voters, it's up to you

News broke recently that President Trump felt he could do anything and not be charged because he believes that as president, he has an "absolute right" to pardon his own federal crimes. So Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell: this is on you. It's also on our own Peter Roskam, Randy Hultgren, and anyone who wanted to win so badly that they held their noses to avoid the stink. And to everyone who voted for him thinking he had your best interests in mind? He only cares about his and his family's best interests. He doesn't care about you, and that should be obvious by now. He wants your money and your support and will say whatever he thinks to convince you of that.

And to those who voted for Stein or ' just to make a statement: it goes without saying that yep, this is on you, too.

Lastly, to every person of age and eligible to vote but who didn't vote: you own a piece of this, too. Forty-one percent of eligible voters didn't show up to vote because they thought their vote didn't matter. We have a president who thinks he can commit crimes and pardon himself as a result.

But the midterm election is just five months away, and this nightmare can be curtailed (if not completely stopped) by electing progressive Democrats to Congress who will stand up to the nightmare of a president who is obliterating our environment, civil rights, women's rights, children's health and public education, among many other things.
