Bullying teachers in Bensenville

This is in response to the published article of March 13 in the Daily Herald regarding the current Bensenville teachers labor negotiations.

It is a shame that when the Bensenville district school teachers attempted to exercise their constitutionally protected right of peaceful assembly, the superintendent responded by threatening to rescind all previously negotiated agreements for their perceived act of defiance of his powers.

It is my understanding there is a "zero tolerance" policy against bullying in the district - it is reprehensible that the superintendent seems to have given himself an exemption to this established policy with his act of threatened retribution against the teachers. This isn't the first time this act of intimidation has been exhibited by this superintendent, and if history teaches us anything it won't be the last.

Teachers everywhere deserve the respect and support of the communities they work in, for their selfless devotion to the children they mentor. We should do the same for all of the Bensenville teachers.
