Dangerous people should lose gun rights

After every school shooting, people's desire for these shootings to never happen again manifests itself with many shouting for gun control as loudly as they can. They feel good. They believe that they are doing something positive.

Let's face it, the Parkland Florida, high school shooter raised more red flags than the former Soviet Union did for one of its May Day celebrations. The cops were at his house numerous times. The FBI received tips concerning his social media postings and dropped the ball, twice. After all of this, he was still able to legally purchase and possess firearms. That is what needs to be changed.

My suggestions would be that after a number of visits because of complaints of an individual concerning threats to people or property, the police should be able to deny that individual the right to purchase firearms. That individual would have to go to court to get their right reinstated. If, something as blatant as wanting to be a professional school shooter was posted on social media, the authorities should be able to get a warrant and seize that person's firearms.

I believe that people can lose their rights and privileges. However, they have to do something wrong and show that they are unworthy. To deny ownership of a certain type of firearm because of what may happen is the same as denying a person the ability to purchase a bottle of whiskey because they may drive drunk.

All but one mass shooting has occurred in the last 20 years, long after gun control laws were on the books. Nothing like this was going on even though access to guns was much easier than it is today. Something has changed in America. We need to find out what it is and soon.
