Endorsement: Yes to restore services in Prospect Heights fire district

Officials in the Prospect Heights Fire Protection District are seeking to restore services lost since the 2008 Great Recession took hold, and they say they can do it with a minimal request to exceed the tax cap. By minimal, they mean an increase of about $30 a year for the owner of a $300,000 home. That amount would let the district restore cuts that have been made at a time when demands are increasing and return staffing to the levels of 2013. The district's demands are not excessive. The challenges facing it are real. We recommend a yes vote.
