'Cringe worthy' issue need discussion

The "Thank You, Rauner" ad by the Ives for Governor Campaign while pointed, and as State Rep. Wheeler called it "cringe worthy," does bring up issues that need honest debate based on truth. There is hardly an issue involving Illinois governance that is not cringe worthy.

The truth is 70 percent of Americans and I believe Illinoisans do not want to pay for abortions with taxpayer money, while 65 percent admit that abortion terminates human life.

The truth is gender/sex is not "assigned" at birth, it is an observable scientific fact. It is fraudulent to retroactively allow someone to change what is recorded by a licensed attending physician at the time of birth. Furthermore genetically, skeletally, and physiologically, the person is still the sex as determined by their chromosomes not their psychological disposition. This can truly matter if emergency medical care is needed.

The truth is most people want the laws obeyed by everyone and not have cities and states ignore orders of detention issued by the federal agency that is charged with enforcing immigration law.

The truth is Chicago politicians decades ago did not get hoodwinked into having Chicago Public School pensions paid by Chicago taxpayers. Chicago political leaders wanted to control the huge pension fund without state interference and dole out its management to cronies. Now that the system has collapsed, the cry is unfairness and Illinois taxpayers must bail out their influence-peddling fund.

If you can't tell the truth about basic natural law and the necessity of moral integrity, then why bother telling the truth about the budget, pension fund payments, school funding, and how much taxes will be going up. Unfortunately most political leaders of both parties seem to think that to be successful in electoral politics, you don't need to bother with the truth.
