Tax cut will have positive benefits

My family thanks Congressman Peter Roskam for his leadership across the board, but most especially in passing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. What a positive difference this legislation will make for many Illinois households, a state in which we surely can use some tax relief! Indeed, the impact will be felt my millions of Americans, across every income group.

Yes, there are the naysayers, labeling the act everything from a giveaway to corporations and the wealthiest among us to a "massive attack on the middle class" to "apocalyptic," as Nancy Pelosi direly suggested. However, in the final analysis, the same conclusion has been reached from various nonpartisan organizations.

From the left-leaning Tax Policy Center, to the right-leaning Tax Foundation to the Joint Committee on Taxation, the official scorekeeper for Congress, the consensus is that the act slashes taxes for the vast majority of Americans. The fact is, soon we should all begin keeping more of our hard-earned money.
