Thanks for patience

The Lake County Treasurer's Office saw an unprecedented amount of 2017 prepayments of real estate taxes in December 2017 totaling tens of thousands, and we're currently processing those payments. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding throughout the prepayment process. Due to the federal tax change, we recognize this caused some confusion and frustration for taxpayers. During the last week of December, the Treasurer's Office received nearly 8,000 phone calls. I can't thank our staff enough for their tireless and dedicated work, especially over the last couple of weeks. We are continuing to process checks and mail receipts to taxpayers reflecting prepayments of 2017 taxes. We want to again thank taxpayers for their patience during this time.
