Gun control positions
The Jan. 15 article "How governor candidates would address gun violence" provided excellent insights about those running for the state's highest office. Gun violence is a widespread, deadly situation that has a long history of complex constitutional and social issues. It was interesting to read "Rauner said his general philosophy comes from a bumper sticker he saw while hunting downstate that read: 'If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns'." One would hope that our elected officials would ground their philosophy on such a weighty issue on something deeper than a bumper sticker.
