Thank you for helping flood victims

On behalf of the Avon Township Food Pantry, I would like to express a heartfelt "Thank you" to those who banded together in helping the recent flood victims in Lake County.

I am grateful that within hours of posting on Facebook that Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate would be holding a donation drop-off for victims, hundreds of people came to donate and ask what they could do to help.

We managed to fill five trucks with the supplies donated, and while we are so indebted to your generosity, many residents are still in rental homes, in need of food and help as they await repairs to their homes.

I am in awe of our community, as well as those who came from as far away as Chicago or Rockford to help us; whether it was sandbagging, helping neighbors clean out their homes, or making donations of food, cleaning supplies, and clothing, you were there to help us and each other.

We continue to relish the care and kindness of our community. But, our work is not done. Now, more than ever, we need your continued support.

Don't stop helping. Additionally, if you are in need of help, do not be afraid to reach out to us. Our community has shown its ability to come together in solidarity and support.
