PCTEL Wi-Fi radio system approved in Europe

BLOOMINGDALE - PCTEL Inc., a global provider of wireless technology solutions, Thursday said its internet-based Wi-Fi radio system has met regulatory standards in Europe.

PCTEL's industrial grade radio module received the Declaration of Conformity in Europe, which will allow it to be sold there. The Wi-Fi radio system meets rigorous customer requirements for industrial applications, the company said.

"(The approval) is a significant milestone in our strategy to expand PCTEL's industrial (internet of things) devices market in Europe," said Chintan Fafadia, PCTEL's vice president, IIoT Device Product Management.

The radio system targets a range of markets including utilities, fleets, manufacturing, automation, mining, and oil and gas companies. The radio is ideal for integration into wireless IT platforms and its high transmit power provides continuous connectivity, PCTEL said.

PCTEL also sells antennas and wireless test and measurement systems in Europe.
