Herrington Inn presents donation to Northern Illinois Food Bank

GENEVA - Herrington Inn & Spa recently gave the Northern Illinois Food Bank proceeds of its Ornaments of HOPE charity campaign.

The Herrington Inn invited guests and members of the community to come to the hotel this past holiday season and purchase a $10 ornament and declare their messages of HOPE to bring more positive energy out to the world.

The hotel, 15 S. River Lane in Geneva, has presented the food bank a check for $1,210.66. Hotel and spa staff say they are thankful the Shodeen Family Foundation had contributed $500 of this amount.

Latest projections from Feeding America estimate that COVID-19 has increased food insecurity in the Northern Illinois Food Bank's 13-county service area by a staggering 62%, and it has nearly doubled the child food insecurity rate - resulting in 1 in 6 children facing hunger. These estimates are fueling the food bank's drive to increase meal distribution in the year ahead.
