Illinois Tollway awards $8.2 million in contracts

DOWNERS GROVE - The Illinois Tollway board recently approved the first four construction contracts totaling $8.2 million included in its $1.53 billion capital program for 2021. Approved projects include:

• A $2.6 million contract to Aldridge Electric Inc., Libertyville, for systemwide sign panel fabrication and installation upon request.

• A $2.5 million contract to Herlihy Mid-Continent Co., Romeoville, for structural repairs and noisewall construction along the Tri-State Tollway between Belvidere Road and Lake-Cook Road.

• A $1.7 million contract to Utility Dynamics Corp., Oswego, for lighting improvements on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway between East Riverside Boulevard and I-39.

The January contracts approved include 12 subcontractors that are certified as disadvantaged, minority- and women-owned business enterprise firms, as well as one contractor and three subcontractors that are certified veteran-owned firms, the Tollway said. Commitments for minority-owned participation range from 23% 28% per contract and commitments for veteran participation range from 3% to 35% per contract.
