Tax incentive approved for Amazon warehouse in Arlington Heights

The Cook County Board last week approved a 6b property tax incentive for GC Net Lease Investors LLC for an industrial building at 1455 Shure Drive in Arlington Heights that is being used by Amazon.

The village board approved the tax break for the then vacant 215,000-square-foot building in April. It allows the property to be assessed at lower levels over the course of a dozen years. The building serves as a general package delivery distribution center.

A project description last spring listed $4.4 million in building upgrades and said the site would have 181 delivery drivers, 130 part-time package handlers and 30 management employees. "Our tax incentives are used to either keep or expand businesses in Cook County," Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle said in a news release. "They are a reliable tool to retain jobs and bring vacant buildings back into use, which promotes economic growth."
