CLC donates protective equipment to local hospitals

GRAYSLAKE - The College of Lake County is gathering and donating medical supplies from several departments across campus to help protect area health care workers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The college continues to collect ongoing donations of personal protective equipment for Vista Medical Center East, Advocate Condell, Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest and Northshore Highland Park hospitals. Programs like nursing, medical assisting, phlebotomy and dental hygiene donated supplies, but other departments such as ceramics, fire science technology and auto collision repair also donated materials including thousands of gloves, hundreds of N95 masks and surgical gowns and thousands of surgical masks.

"As partners with area hospitals in training health care providers for our communities, we hope these donations assist these front-line organizations during this unprecedented time," said Ali O'Brien, CLC vice president for community and workforce partnerships, who has spearheaded the college's effort.
