ComEd announced it has promoted Michael Fountain to vice president of governmental affairs.

Fountain will lead the company's strategies and teams in helping to ensure the state enacts sound energy legislation. He will develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including public officials, business leaders and public interest groups. He also will coordinate execution of legislative strategies across the company.

Fountain most recently served as director of external affairs for ComEd's south region, where he developed and integrated external affairs initiatives with internal teams and local government officials to support the execution of ComEd's business strategies.

Fountain joined ComEd in 2017 after serving as a consultant for Capitol F Consulting, LLC where he provided legislative advocacy services to various clients, including representing businesses and public bodies before the Illinois General Assembly and United States Congress.

"Michael is a well-respected leader in our organization and in our communities. He has spent his career building strong relationships with stakeholders and serving as a community leader with local organizations," said Melissa Washington, senior vice president of governmental and external affairs at ComEd. "His relationships with both our people and leaders throughout the state will allow us to continue to pursue policies that advance our work to provide clean, reliable and affordable energy to our communities."
