Mercedes-Benz recognizes one of area's oldest dealerships

Knauz Automotive Group, Lake Bluff, was recently recognized by Mercedes-Benz USA for its 60 years as a Mercedes-Benz dealership, a milestone few have achieved.

Bill Knauz, chairman of Knauz Automotive Group, and William Madden, president and CEO of Knauz, accepted two Mercedes-Benz awards on behalf of the staff. The dealership was honored with a Silver Laurel Best of the Best Award for outstanding customer service, as well as recognized for 60 years in business as a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff.

Knauz Automotive Group was started as, and continues to be, a family-owned business that has been part of the community for the last 85 years. Knauz Autopark, located at Routes 41 and 176 in Lake Bluff, is the home of BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, Hyundai, and Sprinter dealerships.

At the ceremony in the Mercedes-Benz showroom, Bill Knauz emotionally reminisced, taking everyone in attendance back to 1959 when he welcomed Mercedes-Benz to Knauz Continental Autos.

Madden also spoke at the reception. "Although many things have changed over the years, our dedication to our customers and the Mercedes-Benz brand has not changed," he said. "We are proud to receive these honors, knowing they have been earned by our staff's commitment to our customers."
