Algonquin Sand & Gravel receives industry awards

ALGONQUIN - Hanson Material Service Company and it's mine in Algonquin received numerous awards and recognition at the Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers' Annual convention in Springfield.

The Algonquin Sand & Gravel mine achieved a Community Relations award for efforts undertaken by the company and its employees to demonstrate corporate citizenship and support community groups near this site. The mine also received a Gold level Rock Solid Safety award.

A company and its employees must meet specific health and safety criteria that go beyond federal Mine Safety and Health Administration requirements to qualify for four levels of awards.

The Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers is the trade association serving the aggregate and industrial mineral mining industry in Illinois for more than 50 years.
