Amita names three regional leaders, pos-acute care exec

Amita Health recently announced appointments for each of its three operating regions and its post-acute care division.

• Scott Teffeteller will serve as senior vice president and regional operating officer for the Chicago Metro region, including Amita Health Resurrection Medical Center Chicago, Amita Health Saint Francis Hospital Evanston, Amita Health Saint Joseph Hospital Chicago and Amita Health Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center Chicago. Teffeteller comes to Amita Health from the Community Health Network in Indianapolis, where he served as senior vice president and president of the system's east region. He earlier was president and chief executive officer of Union Hospital, Inc., the largest nonprofit provider of health services between Indianapolis and St. Louis.

• Polly Davenport will be senior vice president and ROO for the Northwest region, including Amita Health Adventist Medical Center GlenOaks, Amita Health Alexian Brothers Medical Center Elk Grove Village, Amita Health Mercy Medical Center Aurora, Amita Health St. Alexius Medical Center Hoffman Estates and Its Amita Health Alexian Brothers Women & Children's Hospital, and Amita Health Saint Joseph Hospital Elgin. Davenport most recently served as senior vice president and COO of Catholic Health Initiatives' St. Vincent Health System in Little Rock, Arkansas, and as president of CHl's St. Vincent Infirmary and St. Vincent North hospitals. She earlier was CEO of the North Shore Region of Ochsner Health System in New Orleans, CEO of Ochsner Medical Center North Shore in Slidell, Louisiana, and CEO of Val Verde Regional Medical Center in Del Rio, Texas.

•Herbert Buchanan will serve as senior vice president and ROO for the South region, including Amita Health Adventist Medical Center Bolingbrook, Amita Health Adventist Medical Center Hinsdale, Amita Health Adventist Medical Center La Grange, Amita Health Saint Joseph Medical Center Joliet and Amita Health St. Mary's Hospital Kankakee. Buchanan worked most recently as a health care consultant after previously serving as president and CEO of Methodist and University Hospitals in Indianapolis, which comprise the 1,300-bed Academic Medical Center of Indiana University Health System. He earlier was CEO of Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

• Michelle Hereford will be senior vice president and post-acute care officer. She will oversee Amita Health Holy Family Medical Center Des Plaines, which is a long-term acute-care hospital, Amita Health Alexian Brothers Rehabilitation Hospital Elk Grove Village, Amita Health Alexian Brothers Hospice Care, Amita Health Adventist St. Thomas Hospice Care, Amita Health Rainbow Hospice, Amita Health home health programs and other rehabilitation and palliative care programs. Hereford also will oversee laboratory services, which are part of the post-acute care division under Amita Health's new organizational structure. Hereford previously served as chief of the community hospitals and post-acute division of University of Virginia (UVA) Health System in Charlottesville, Virginia. She earlier served as chief of UVA's Transitional Care Hospital and CEO of Kindred Hospital in Richmond, Virginia
