PALATINE -- Certified Public Accountant firms Dowell Group, LLP and DeMarco, Kinnaman, Lewis & Co. announced they are combining their businesses and will operate under the name Dowell Group LLP.

The new 33-member firm provides tax, accounting, audit, and consulting services to businesses, individuals, trusts, estates, retirement plans, and nonprofits. On a transitional basis, the firm will also maintain an office at the former Lincolnshire location of DeMarco, Kinnaman, Lewis & Co.

As a combined firm, it will be able to broaden its service offerings, provide more technical expertise in a number of areas, and continue to attract quality professional staff. All of the owners of DeMarco, Kinnaman, Lewis & Co. will join the executive ranks at Dowell Group, with Mike DeMarco joining as a principal, while Don Kinnaman, Ron Lewis, and Brian Keslin will join as partners. All staff members will also join Dowell Group and will continue to serve their existing clients.

Greg Dowell, managing partner of Dowell Group, said the two firms have been discussing a merger for about two years.

"They have an exceptional reputation for providing quality services to their clients, and they have outstanding professionals on their staff," Dowell said. "This combination allows us to accomplish those goals, to the ultimate betterment of our clients."

Mike DeMarco, managing partner of DeMarco, Kinnaman, Lewis & Co. added the two firms share "a strong set of shared values with the professionals."

"Our approach to doing business is the same, with a focus on quality, timeliness, and value," he added.

Both firms have been in business for more than 25 years, earning a reputation for providing outstanding services to a broad and diverse group of clients.
