ENCLAVE Foundation for Entrepreneurs has named Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig B. Johnson the ENCLAVE Luminary Leader of the Year.

The Elk Grove-based organization honored Johnson and five others for their achievements in their specific fields at its first Luminary Leaders recognition event Dec. 13. All were inducted into ENCLAVE's first Luminary Leaders League, which will become a thought leadership, collaboration and resource hub for the organization.

"For a tireless effort to shine light on the region's unlimited potential to grow and prosper - one individual, one venture, and one community at a time; in that order of priority - Mayor Johnson personifies ENCLAVE's mission-driven functions as an (1) illuminator, a (2) simulator, and a (3) collider," ENCLAVE CEO John R. Dallas, Jr. said in announcing the selection committee's unanimous vote.

In addition to Johnson, the Luminary Leaders honorees included:

• David R. Schuler, Ph.D., of Northwest Suburban High School District 214, Superintendent of the Year for the United States

• Paul W. Kelly, Principal of the Year for Illinois, from Elk Grove High School

• Ricardo (Ricky) Castro, Teacher of the Year (2017) for Illinois, from Elk Grove High School

• Richard J. Mikel, Fire Chief of the Year for Illinois, from Elk Grove Village Fire Department

• Eric R. Broughton, ENCLAVE Entrepreneur of the Year 2018, of Naperville, who recently sold his startup venture, Apartment Jet, Inc., to Expedia

ENCLAVE co-founders, psychiatrists David E. Morrison, Jr., M.D. and David E. Morrison III, M.D., spoke to the honorees about the psychological and emotional significance and risks of winning awards. Dallas focused on the societal relevance of awards as indicators of a community of leaders working together.

Dallas also invited the honorees to periodically regroup for innovative discussions.

ENCLAVE, which stands for Education, Networking, Collaboration, Leads, Acceleration, Validation and Excellence, started in 2017 as an education and networking center that focuses on the entrepreneur and the psychology and emotions behind the business and its relationships with key stakeholders.
