BBQ King opens in Huntley; Beef Shack opening in January
The award-winning Woodstock restaurant BBQ King Smokehouse opened a new location this week in Huntley's downtown square.
The two-story, 7,973-square-foot restaurant is the largest tenant in a new building at 11708 E. Coral St. The full-service eatery serves authentic southern-style BBQ with a full bar and craft beer selection.
In July of 2017, BBQ King Smokehouse won first place at Chicago's Ribfest for the second consecutive year.
Owner Jason Szmurlo of Crystal Lake purchased the Huntley property from the village to build the restaurant. The development includes two other 1,500-square-foot retail tenants.
The Huntley Village Board also recently approved a Beef Shack fast-food restaurant specializing in cheesy beef sandwiches at 12372 Princeton Drive, south of Aldi and north of 7-Eleven. The building's other tenants are Athletico Physical Therapy and Mattress Firm.
Construction already has begun and Beef Shack founder Spiro Douvris is targeting early January for opening of the 1,750-square-foot restaurant with drive-through service. The franchise operators are Rod and Jolanta Jimenez.
Beef Shack has restaurants in Elgin, DeKalb, St. Charles and is opening a location in Joliet.
