Winfield commercial development begins

Choose DuPage, the Village of Winfield and Conor Commercial Real Estate held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction on the North Avenue Commerce Center, a Class A industrial building and the largest commercial development in Winfield's history.

Grading and utilities work began on-site earlier this fall, with construction beginning Thursday, Oct. 18.

"Securing the North Avenue Commerce Center development is another big win for the economic powerhouse we keep building in DuPage County," said John Carpenter, president and CEO of Choose DuPage Economic Development Alliance. "Early estimates indicate the project will create roughly 200 warehouse distribution jobs, with an additional 80 jobs inside the office."

Located across from the Wheaton Bible Church on the southwest corner of North Avenue and Morton Road in Winfield, the North Avenue Commerce Center, under development in the Village of Winfield, is a premier 265,550 square foot industrial facility. The site will include 12 trailer parking stalls as well as on-site parking for up to 228 vehicles. Recruitment of the class A facility to DuPage County was successfully orchestrated by the efforts of Choose DuPage, the County's public/private economic development alliance.

"The demand for industrial facilities of this scale and quality in the Central DuPage submarket by far outpaces supply and so we are building on spec without a tenant lined up. Our target tenants are leading national e-commerce companies expanding in the Chicagoland market," shared Brian Quigley, executive vice president of Conor Commercial.
