Manufacturers gather for Elk Grove business expo

Nearly 100 Elk Grove Village-based businesses, from precision machining to plastics, came together Monday to network during the village's sixth annual business expo.

Held this year at Elk Grove High School, the Made in Elk Grove Manufacturing & Technology Expo gave business owners both inside and outside the village the opportunity to connect with Elk Grove-based manufacturers to help expand the local supply chain.

The annual event also is organized by village officials as a way to promote the 62 million-square-foot business park on the east side of town - the largest in the country.

Before the afternoon expo, officials also honored local business leaders during a lunchtime business excellence awards ceremony. Attendees included Deputy Gov. Leslie Munger, of Lincolnshire, who was named acting director of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity last month.
