Nothing Bundt Cakes a hit in Algonquin Commons

Danny Sorensen had stopped into Nothing Bundt Cakes locations before. And he'd seen people's eyes light up when they tried samples of the moist cake in its many flavors.

He knew he wanted to be part of that, and so he looked for a spot to open up his own Nothing Bundt Cakes location.

This month, Sorensen hosted a grand opening for his new store in Algonquin at 2529 County Line Road, just off the Randall Road corridor.

This is the second location for Nothing Bundt Cakes to open along the Randall Road corridor in the past six months. Last September, one opened in Geneva at 1086 Commons Drive, facing Randall Road in the Geneva Commons Shopping Center.

This Algonquin location is the first for owner Sorensen, whose business is right next to Menchies and near Lumes Pancakes, in front of the stores in Algonquin Commons.

“People have just been going crazy about it,” he said. “They love our samples and our flavors.”

Inside the store you will find bundt cakes of varying sizes and flavors. Each day there are 10 different flavors on hand and four different sizes. There are nine core cake flavors, and one flavor that rotates each month.

The store also carries any accessories you might need for a party, including balloons, greeting cards, decorations and more.

“We're basically a one-stop-shop for a party,” Sorensen said.

Some people trying to get there using Apple or Google maps have a hard time finding it, he said.

If you enter Algonquin Commons from Commons Drive, you just turn right to reach the business, he said. However, if you enter from County Line Road, you have to go up to Trader Joe's to enter the Algonquin Commons mall, and then back toward Randall to find the store.

“It's been great so far, and the community has been amazing,” he said. “The community has really embraced us.”
