Aviation academy in West Chicago earns honors
The Illinois Aviation Academy and Chief Pilot Scott Malcolm received national Flight Training Experience Awards from the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of America.
The 2017 Distinguished Flight School Award recognizes IAA as one of the top four percent of flight schools, while Malcolm, earned the 2017 Distinguished Flight Instructor Award, putting him in the top one percent of flight instructors nationwide.
Located at DuPage Airport in West Chicago, the IAA began operation in 1993 and strives to provide personalized training. The IAA offers complete corporate aviation services, financial aid services, aircraft maintenance, simulators, aircraft storage and sales.
The program has graduated more than 20,000 pilots since inception and pilots have logged upward of 75,000 total miles. IAA operates 23 total aircrafts -- from light training aircrafts to corporate jets -- a 30,000 square foot hangar and maintains 15 full-time employees to assist perspective pilots in achieving their goals.
"We are honored that the AOPA chose to recognize the IAA flight school and Scott Malcolm with Flight Training Experience Awards," said Bob Werdrich, president and CEO of Illinois Aviation Academy.
The 2017 awards were drawn from flight students and pilots who voluntarily reviewed their flight training experience last summer through an AOPA online customer satisfaction survey. The process yielded an evaluation of 1,048 different flight schools and 2,012 individual flight instructors across the country.
"It's important that the younger generation realize the door is open for a career in aviation," Werdrich said.
Both the Distinguished Flight School Award and Distinguished Flight Instructor Award certify that the IAA is delivering excellent training to each student who passes through the comprehensive program.
