What was new in 2021-22:
One significant facility change that took place over the summer was a complete renumbering of the building and the addition of themed graphics for key areas and destinations: Auditorium, Student Activity Center, State & Madison hallway intersection, Athletic Foyer and cantilever staircase locations. The changes added to a more positive and inviting learning environment for students and staff. The new building numbering system generates a more logical flow throughout the building that includes "wayfinding" signage and enhanced ADA features.
What challenges did the Class of 2022 face as they returned to in-person school full time, and how did they overcome them: The class of 2022 was the only grade level at GBS who had experienced a full year of "normal" high school. Because of this, they really served as leaders and models for younger students in understanding what it means to be a Glenbrook South Titan. High school brings more freedoms compared to middle school, but with this freedom comes added responsibility. The class of 2022 demonstrated this responsibility to our younger students which helped reacclimate with the return to in-person learning.
Principal's reflections on the Class of 2022:
As I think of the class of 2022, I admire their resilience and perseverance during their time in high school where they experienced a great deal of uncertainty because of the pandemic. So many of their "normal" high school experiences were disrupted from school dances to sporting events. Despite this, students reached the milestone of high school graduation and I am happy that they will be able to celebrate with their families in a ceremony that commemorates this achievement under more traditional circumstances.
