Elk Grove man charged in Glenview shooting

An Elk Grove Village man has been charged in Thursday's shooting at the Plaza del Prado shopping center on Glenview's north side, officials said Friday.

Jaylen Sanford, 19, was arrested about 12:15 p.m. Friday and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance and possession of cannabis, according to a news release from the Glenview Police Department. Sanford is being held for a bond hearing at the Skokie courthouse.

Shortly after noon Thursday, Glenview officers were called to the shopping center at Willow and Pfingsten roads, where they found a 19-year-old man who had been shot in his car.

The man was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said Thursday, adding that it was an isolated incident and there was no danger to the public.
