3 hospitalized after crash near Rolling Meadows

Three people were hospitalized after a crash near Rolling Meadows Sunday afternoon.

Shortly after 5 p.m., Illinois state troopers responded to the scene of a vehicle crash on Route 53 near Kirchoff Road.

A semi-truck was parked on the right shoulder of Route 53, though the driver failed to set the parking brake and the truck began to roll into traffic, "jackknifing" across all lanes of northbound traffic. A car on the road couldn't slow down due to the wet conditions, and hit the semi on the passenger side of the trailer.

All three occupants of the car were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The semi-truck's driver refused treatment at the scene.
