Speeding stop leads to drug arrest in Des Plaines

A Skokie man was arrested after police stopped his speeding car early Monday in Des Plaines and found cannabis in several glass containers and plastic bags inside, as well as pipes, authorities said.

Josean Rios, 23, of the 5300 block of Mulford Street, was charged with manufacturing or delivering more than 30 grams of cannabis, possession of more than 30 grams of cannabis, speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Rios was stopped about 5:30 a.m. on Mount Prospect Road at Algonquin Road after driving 62 mph in a 40 mph zone, according to police. The drugs and pipes were found after a search of Rios and the car, police said.
