Suburban police prepare for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The Des Plaines Police Department and many others across the suburbs will be accepting unwanted and expired prescription drugs Oct. 23 as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

In Des Plaines, the event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the station, 1420 Miner St.

Officials say that too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands, leading to dangerous and tragic consequences.
