District 214 inks new contract with support staff

Northwest Suburban High School District 214 inked a two-year contract with the union representing some 350 campus security guards, clerical staff, and instructional, administrative and technology assistants.

The agreement with the Educational Support Personnel Association awards raises of 1.9% starting in July and 2% the following year, on top of a 20-step salary schedule. The contract also includes extra pay for new employees and those who take new positions within the district who participate in a job shadow/on-boarding program, district officials said.

The school board unanimously approved the deal Thursday night and it was then signed by school board President Dan Petro and union President Pete Panagakis. Union membership previously ratified the contract unanimously. The pact runs from July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2023.
