Illinois sees 2,082 new COVID-19 cases and 20 new deaths

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - There were 2.082 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases, including 20 new deaths, reported in Illinois on Tuesday by public health officials.

The cases were diagnosed from 55,705 tests administered in the state, placing Illinois' seven-day positivity rate at 4%.

Illinois has seen about 1.15 million COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic, and 19,686 deaths,

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports more than 1.4 million doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the state, including 216,522 for long-term care facilities.

As of late Monday, 2,117 people were reported hospitalized in Illinois due to COVID-19. Of those, 497 patients were in intensive care units and 240 patients were on ventilators.
