Mississippi State WR Heath arrested for DUI

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - A Mississippi State football player has been arrested on a DUI charge.

Malik Heath, a wide receiver entering his first season at MSU, also was arrested Wednesday afternoon on a charge of speeding, improper equipment, no proof of insurance and not having a license, said Neal Higgason, warden at Winston-Choctaw County Regional Correctional Facility. He was released after posting $3,000 bond. It was unknown if Heath has an attorney who could speak on his behalf.

'œWe're aware of the situation,'ť Mississippi State coach Mike Leach told The Dispatch Wednesday night. 'œWe're gathering more information from the proper authorities and don't have further comment at this time.'ť

Heath joined MSU's team after a standout two-year career at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, where he had 61 catches for 835 yards and seven touchdowns in 17 games.
