Police: Wauconda man charged with soliciting teen after undercover investigation

A 21-year-old Wauconda man faces felony charges after an undercover investigation culminated with his arrest Monday on charges he attempted to arrange a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl, police said.

Corey J. Hendricks, of the 200 block of Heron Lane, is charged with indecent solicitation of a child and distribution of harmful material, according to police. He was taken to the Lake County jail, where he will be held pending a bond hearing.

Police say they began investigating Hendricks in January after the organization World Wide Predator Hunters contacted the department to report that an adult man was attempting to meet with a 14-year-old girl.

Wauconda police said the department, in conjunction with the Lake County sate's attorney's office Cyber Division, Children's Advocacy Center and the Lake County Special Investigations Group, launched an undercover investigation.

On Monday morning, police said, Hendricks drove to a home in the 300 block of Wethington Drive in Wauconda with the intention of committing a sex act with a 14-year-old girl. While in contact via text with someone he believed to be the girl, Hendricks approached the home and attempted to enter, at which time he was taken into custody without incident, according to police.
