Illinois boy dies in Idaho skiing accident

BURLEY, Idaho (AP) - Authorities say a boy from Illinois died after hitting a tree while skiing at an Idaho resort.

Cassia County Undersheriff George Warrell told The Times-News that the 11-year-old boy from Chatham was skiing with his family at the Pomerelle Mountain Resort near Albion, Idaho when he collided with the tree on Thursday evening.

Warrell said other skiiers who were emergency medical technicians and paramedics immediately attempted life-saving medical procedures on the child, but he died at the scene.

The boy's family was visiting the area, and he was skiing with his mother when the accident occurred.

'œIt was a tragic accident,'ť Warrell said.

The boy's name was not released.
