Billy Porter to star on Jordan Peele's 'The Twilight Zone'

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - Billy Porter is among the actors who will appear on Jordan Peele's 'œThe Twilight Zone'ť anthology series next season.

Jenna Elfman, Chris Meloni, Gillian Jacobs, Joel McHale and Jimmi Simpson also will each appear in an episode for season two, the CBS All Access streaming service announced.

Porter, who won a best drama actor Emmy last year for 'œPose,'ť will be joined by Daniel Sunjata ('œGraceland'ť) and Ethan Embry ('œGrace and Frankie,'ť 'œBlindspotting'ť) in an episode titled 'œThe Who of You.'ť Story details were not released.

Peele, an Oscar-winner for 'œGet Out,'ť has written an episode, 'œDowntime,'ť that will star Morena Baccarin (the 'œDeadpool'ť franchise), Colman Domingo ('œIf Beale Street Could Talk'ť) and Emmy-winning 'œVeep'ť star Tony Hale.

Peele is co-creator, executive producer and narrator for the series, described as a 'œre-imagining'ť of the original Rod Serling anthology of the same name that aired from 1959-64 on CBS. The new version streams on the CBS All Access platform.

The 10-episode season is set to arrive mid-year, with the date yet to be announced.

Animal rescue stories will be the subject of a documentary series from filmmaker Richard Linklater.

'œI come to this project hoping to shine a light on the folks I've met who are making a difference every day in the lives of unwanted, abused and disabled animals,'ť Linklater said in a release announcing the CBS All Access series.

'œWhat strikes me most is the joy and discovery on both sides of the relationship between the animals and their human caregivers,'ť he said. "These are inspirational stories that I believe will be a positive force in the world.'ť

Writer-director Linklater's films include the Oscar-nominated 'œBoyhood'ť and 'œBefore Sunset.'ť The release date and title for his docuseries are yet to be announced.

New versions of 'œLassie,'ť 'œGeorge of the Jungle'ť and 'œMr. Magoo'ť will debut this month on CBS All Access.

The series from DreamWorks Animation's Classic Media will be available to subscribers starting Jan. 17, the streamer said. They join a children's programming lineup that includes the new 'œDanger Mouse'ť and a library of shows such as 'œInspector Gadget'ť and 'œThe Adventures of Paddington Bear.'ť

'œWe've seen a tremendous response from our subscribers in just the few months since CBS All Access began offering children's programming,'ť said Marc DeBevoise, chief digital officer for Viacom CBS, with more family programming to come.
