Hope for proper inquiry

In response to Mr. Fuechtmann's recent letter please note the following facts:

The Mueller Report did not find collusion per se, but did find Russian interference in the 2016 in a "sweeping and systematic fashion" and identifies links between the Trump campaign officials and individuals with ties to the Russian government. Several of these officials have since been convicted of lying to Congress and/or other crimes and are now serving time in prison.

The second part of the report dealt with obstruction of justice. Although listed in detail, the report does not declare guilt, stating the Office of Legal Counsel opinion that a sitting president cannot stand trial and that such charges would preempt impeachment - which is the responsibility of the House of Representatives. Inexplicably the House has not acted on those charges.

Regarding the July 25 phone call between presidents Trump and Zelenskiy. The original release from the White House was a memorandum which was followed by a rough transcript. A complete and accurate transcript of the phone call has not been released. In both, after the Ukrainian president requests assistance in the form of the Javelin missile system, President Trump then requests an investigation by the Ukrainian government of political opponent Joe Biden.

This is practically a definition of bribery - one of the two crimes specifically mentioned in the Constitution, Article Two, Section 4.

Note that supposed crimes by the Bidens (unsubstantiated) or the Clinton Foundation (unproven) do not offset actions taken by President Trump.

Based on these facts, I hope that our representatives in in the House and the Senate are able to fairly conduct the proper inquiry, present the proper charges, and conduct a trial based on those charges as outlined in the Constitution.

Taking a stand

Let me be perfectly clear. Mr. Kaepernick: Either stand up or go home. If the Bears pay one nickel (the size of a manhole cover) to Colin Kaepernick to play quarterback, I will never, ever watch or listen to another game. I would rather see my Bears lose the next 50 games (and it could happen with Mitch Trubisky and Chase Daniel at QB) than win one with Kaepernick. I consider myself an American first and a Bears fan second. I love this country, our flag and my Bears.
