Arlington Heights DIY art studio to host open house Saturday
Woodcrafters DIY Studio Inc. will celebrate its third anniversary as a do-it-yourself art space in downtown Arlington Heights with an open house Saturday afternoon.
The event, from noon to 5 p.m., will feature raffle and door prizes, sales on wood signs, a photo booth inside a vintage camper, and refreshments such as mini-pumpkin pancakes, popcorn and apple cider. The event is also pet-friendly, as nearby Bentley's Pet Stuff will provide treat bags and raffle baskets.
Liz Bolash, a clinical psychologist, and her husband Jim, a carpenter, opened Woodcrafters at 28 S. Evergreen Ave. in August 2016. Store staff guides crafters through a step-by-step process of sanding, staining, distressing and painting raw wood material to turn into finished pieces of art. Over the last year, the business remodeled its studio and introduced more walk-in crafts for kids.
