South Elgin man charged in Kane County burglaries

A 25-year-old South Elgin man faces burglary charges after Kane County sheriff's deputies discovered items stolen from two recent residential burglaries in the man's car, authorities said.

Chefonne Montgomery was arrested Tuesday when deputies spotted him driving a car wanted in connection with a pair of burglaries that happened in late September in an unincorporated part of the county, according to Kane County Sheriff, who said Montgomery was driving on a suspended license when he was stopped.

Deputies reported seeing items reported stolen in the burglaries in Montgomery's car and secured a search warrant to confirm their suspicions.

Deputies also searched Montgomery's residence and recovered more stolen goods, including firearms, electronics and musical instruments, Hain said.
