Girls volleyball: Fremd grabs first in MSL West

Fremd's girls volleyball team gained sole possession of first place in the Mid-Suburban West with a 26-24, 25-21 victory over Conant on Thursday night in Palatine.

Sophomore Rylen Reid (13 kills) and her sister Breslen (7 kills) led the attack for the Vikings (10-2, 3-0), who won their 10th straight match,

Lydia Vander Ark (11 assists) and Rian Baker (13 assists) set the offense while Claudia Wala had 2 blocks. Izzy Segoviano collected 7 digs.

Yuri Hara had 6 kills for Conant (8-8, 2-1) while Natalie Jurgenson and Jessica Sharp had 3 apiece. Payton Litney had 10 assists and Hara collected 9 digs.

Barrington D. Schaumburg: Noelle Daehler put down 16 kills and Campbell Paris added 9 as visiting Barrington (5-5, 2-1) posted a 25-26, 25-20, 25-22 win in the MSL West.

Amelia Sigaev (14 assists) and Felecia Guagliardo (9 assists) set the Fillies' offense while Sigaev also had 9 digs.

Buffalo Grove D. Wheeling: Shannon Coglianese (5 kills) led the attack for Buffalo Grove in a 25-16, 25-16 MSL East triumph at Wheeling (10-10, 2-1).

Claire Schneider had 19 assists and Ella McBride served 5 aces for the Bison (7-10, 2-1).

Palatine D. Hoffman Estates: Host Palatine (5-5, 2-1) posted a 20-25, 25-18, 25-15 MSL West win over Hoffman Estates, which was led by Patrcia Wadas (10 kills), Nora Rakoci (6 kills) and Niyah McAllister (3 kills).

Ashley Poland collected 3 aces and 15 digs for Hoffman (4-7, 0-3) which received 23 assists from Callie Meese.

Hersey D. Elk Grove: Host Hersey improved to 9-2 and 3-0 in the MSL East with a 25-10, 25-8 victory over the Grenadiers (2-13, 0-3).

Kati Kaburov (22 kills, 2 aces, 3 digs), Nora Zielke (5 kills, 4 digs), Maddie Mullin (9 digs), Juliette Vandenherik (2 kills 1 block) and Janine Boyan (5 kills, 1 block, 1 dig) were among the leaders for the Huskies.

College volleyball

Harper D. Triton: Led by Amelia Reiter (6 kills), Rugile Jaciunas (4 kills) and Kelsey Bauer (4 kills), Harper College posted a 25-16, 27-25, 25-15 triumph.

Ashley Rothenberg had 3 blocks while Rachel Kandefer and Bauer each had two. Taylor Pfaller served 7 aces and had 8 assists.
