District 118 board member resigns, citing health issue

Wauconda Unit School District 118 board member David Patterson has resigned, leaving a vacancy on the panel, officials announced this week.

Patterson has served on the board since 2013, and his latest term was set to expire in 2021. In a telephone interview, Patterson said a worsening chronic health issue prompted his decision.

It's now up to the remaining trustees to appoint someone to fill the open seat until the spring 2021 election. Interested applicants should write to board President Kathy Bianco, 555 North Main St., Wauconda, IL, 60084. Applicants also can send emails to kbianco@d118.org or faxes to (847) 526-1019.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, District 118 residents for at least one year and registered voters. The deadline is 4:30 p.m. Sept. 9. The board expects to name a new member Sept. 19.
