Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District open house Saturday

Fire engines, food trucks, station tours, raffle prizes, a bounce house and public safety demonstrations will be among the attractions at this year's Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District's open house Saturday.

The free event will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire district's Lake Barrington station, 22222 North Pepper Road. A side-by-side demonstration scheduled for 12:30 p.m. will allow guests to see how fire sprinkler systems contain fires and limit property damage and injury.

A blood drive will run at the station from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There also will be a raffle to win a junior firefighter uniform.
