Christ Church in Oak Brook offers free movie night Aug. 23

Everyone is invited to Christ Church Oak Brook's auditorium for a family and friends movie night.

Movies don't just entertain - they also help people connect with social themes (good versus evil, perseverance, love or the pursuit of justice). So many of the films we love are based on biblical stories.

Christ Church is hosting a free showing of the film "Wonder" at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, in the auditorium at its Oak Brook location, 501 Oak Brook Road. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Complimentary snacks will be provided. This film is rated PG.

The movie event is presented in connection with the church's August sermon series "@TheMovies: Finding Faith in Films," where knowledgeable speakers will discuss the intersection of faith and film and apply it to some Hollywood movies from the last couple of years.

The church will also display original artwork connected to the faith and film theme within its Atrium Gallery and Bridgeway.

This event is free and open to the public, and part of the many community events offered by Christ Church throughout the year.
