Grayslake Chamber of Commerce hosts Summer Days 2019 Aug. 16-17

Enjoy food, music and fun in Grayslake as the Grayslake Chamber of Commerce & Industry presents Summer Days 2019.

The festival takes place from 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, Aug. 16, and noon to midnight Saturday, Aug. 17, at Center and Whitney streets in downtown Grayslake.

The event offers carnival games, food booths, live music, bingo, parades, competitions and more.

Musical performances will include DeeGuize at 6 p.m., Total Recall at 8 p.m. and Sixteen Candles at 10 p.m. Friday; and Slam Funk at 3:30 p.m., Svelte Bobby and the Soulfixers at 5 p.m., Exit 147 at 8 p.m. and Suburban Cowboys at 10 p.m. Saturday.

Bingo will be held from 7-10 p.m. Friday and 3-10 p.m. Saturday. Go-Kart Races will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday. Everyone is invited to build a go-kart to race; for details, visit www.foundation46.org. A bags tournament will be held Saturday afternoon. Proceeds will benefit the Booster Clubs of Grayslake Central and Grayslake North High School. For details and to register a team, visit www.grayslakechamber.com.

The Summer Days Parade kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The parade will line up at Grayslake Central High School and proceed down Lake Street to Center Street, then end at Whitney Street at the festival site. Before that, a Bike and Pet Parade will be held at noon Saturday, beginning on Slusser Street and heading east on Park Avenue to Seymour Avenue, and ending on Whitney Street.

As part of the festivities, guests are invited to stop by the Grayslake Heritage Center & Museum at 164 Hawley St. on Saturday. The heritage center will also have a tent at the festival where visitors can learn more about the museum and its exhibits.

Food vendors expected to take part include Brat Shop, Dog ‘N Suds, Exchange Club of Grayslake, Glunz Family Winery, Tres Flores & Co., Luke's of Mundelein, BBQ'd Productions, Supermercado San Judas Inc. and Marine Korn LLC.
