Elk Grove summer concerts break attendance record

Elk Grove Village wrapped up its 11th annual "Unity within the Community" Mid-Summer Classics Concert Series with a record attendance of 78,000 - a record high, village officials say.

The 2019 series kicked off with a Fourth of July concert by Melissa Etheridge and was followed with Tuesday night performances by Dennis DeYoung, The Commodores, Wynonna and the Big Noise and Night Ranger.

"The presence and atmosphere at the concerts is truly remarkable," Mayor Craig B. Johnson said in a news release. "The entire community looks forward to Tuesdays in July. People come out to enjoy the concerts and gather with family, friends and neighbors creating memories and a sense of community that will last for many years to come."

The village gave a special thanks to volunteers and staff for their efforts to keep the concerts safe and enjoyable for the community. Check the village website, elkgrove.org, for next year's lineup as information becomes available.
